Rabat – The fifth session of political consultations between Morocco and India took place on November 24 in Rabat, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the two countries discussing partnership opportunities in several sectors.
The consultations were chaired by Director of Asian Affairs and Oceania Abdelkader El Ansari from the Moroccan side and Secretary General at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs Ausaf Sayeed from the Indian side.
The pair discussed avenues to evolve the partnership between the two countries, seeking to expand it especially in the fields of green energy, electronics, biotechnology, and automotive manufacturing.
They also examined possibilities for cooperation in the cultural, academic, and university fields, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
Consular and political cooperation also came up as an area of interest, with the two delegations saying in a press release that they explored opportunities for exchange of expertise and good practices for the protection and supervision of diasporas living abroad.
A triangular cooperation for the benefit of African partner countries was also discussed, as India and Morocco both seek to strengthen cooperation with the continent’s countries.
Morocco and India have been attempting to strengthen ties in several sectors over the past few years, especially in green energy, technology, manufacturing, and startup ecosystems.
Earlier this year, a group of Moroccan entrepreneurs visited India to meet with stakeholders and learn more about the Indian experience to build better national infrastructure.
