Rabat – French daily L’Equipe picked Morocco’s football stars Romain Saiss, Achraf Hakimi, and Sofyan Amrabat as part of its 2022 World Cup team of the tournament.

Morocco’s brilliant performances during the 2022 World Cup caught the attention of international news outlets, which have been left impressed by the Atlas Lions’ professionalism and football talent during the global tournament.

Amazed by Hakimi’s dribbling skills and speed, L’Equipe chose the Moroccan football star as its right-back in the 2022 World Cup team.

Saiss’ guidance and team spirit earned him a spot in the World Cup’s best team for L’Equipe, which put the Atlas Lion as its team’s center-back.

Amrabat, meanwhile, is featured in his usual position as midfielder. Frequently described as a “gladiator,” Amrabat made international headlines for his defense skills, speed, and wise intervention during risky counterattacks.

L’Equipe’s team also includes world-famous France’s Kylian Mbappe, Argentina’s superstar Lionel Messi, and Croatia’s Luka Modric.

While L’Equipe featured the trio as part of its team for the World Cup, the full list that Moroccan coach Walid Regragui put forward made international headlines for their brilliant and uplifting performance during the 2022 World Cup.

The Atlas Lions thrilled the world after securing a spot in the semi-finals, triumphing with spectacular victories during the competition, Morocco defeated Spain, Portugal, Canada, and Belgium.

The Atlas Lions also made an unforgettable performance during the semi-finals game against France, despite their loss that marked Morocco’s exit from the World Cup in 2022.

Morocco finished in fourth place in the 2022 World Cup. The Atlas Lions will return back to Morocco on Tuesday.

Preparations are ongoing to receive the Moroccan national team at the Rabat-Sale airport. King Mohammed VI is also expected to receive the Moroccan national team under a royal audience in Rabat.
