The mayor commented on the incident, saying that his wife and two of his two children were injured in the attack.
Describing the situation as an “unspeakably cowardly assassination attempt,” the mayor said the incident took place at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, while he was at the city hall.
“Individuals rammed their car upon my residence before setting fire to it to burn my house, inside which my wife and my two young children slept,” the mayor said.
He emphasized that there are “no words strong” enough to describe his emotions toward what happened on Saturday night.
