Rabat – US President Joe Biden has reaffirmed his country’s satisfaction with cooperation and bilateral ties with Morocco.
Biden made his remarks in a message to King Mohammed VI, congratulating the monarch on the 24th anniversary of his accession to the Throne.
In the message, President Biden conveyed his and the American people’s best wishes to King Mohammed VI as well as to the Moroccan people, stressing that cooperation between the two countries is a “strategic and lasting” partnership.
Expressing his satisfaction with the evolving US-Morocco partnership, Biden said that the countries have in recent years deepened their cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including the fight against terrorism and extremism.
He also commended Morocco’s role in contributing to regional peace and religious coexistence, stressing that the US is determined to boost cooperation with Morocco in a wide range of fields, including trade and security.
“I look forward to further strengthening, in the year ahead, this exceptional partnership between our two nations, as well as the deep bonds of friendship between our peoples,” Biden concluded.
The message echoed a similar statement that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued to congratulate the monarch on Throne Day.
In a statement on Sunday, Blinken also conveyed the US government and citizens’ “best wishes and congratulations” to King Mohammed VI as well as to Moroccan people.
“Our deep and abiding relationship continues to be a pillar of peace and stability for our two countries and the region,” Blinken said, commending King Mohammed VI for his role in “furthering regional stability, security and prosperity.”
Morocco and the US share good diplomatic ties marked by exchanges of visits between officials representing the two countries as well as their cooperation in different sectors, particularly security.
Earlier this year, in February, the annual US Country Terrorism Report lauded Morocco’s “comprehensive” approach to tackling terrorism and mitigating security threats in its region.
