Rabat – What should have been a joyous wedding celebration in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli turned into a tragic nightmare as a shocking dispute over who would escort the newlyweds home resulted in a fatal shooting.

The brother of the bride lost his life after the brother of the groom shot him in the chest during a family feud that spiraled into a tragedy, Lebanon’s news agency reported.

The incident unfolded during a wedding celebration in the Abi Samra area, also known as Al-Faradeh, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to reports from local media and eyewitnesses, the victim has been identified as Moumen Beirutie.

The dispute centered around the question of who would have the honor of driving the bride and groom to their new home, but the simple family disagreement got out of control.

In the wake of the deadly shooting, law enforcement responded to the scene and arrested several individuals believed to be involved in the altercation.

The situation escalated further as reports emerged of armed clashes between intelligence agency personnel and other individuals during a subsequent police operation.

This operation resulted in the arrest of additional individuals, according to Lebanese media outlets.

Videos capturing the tragic incident rapidly spread across various social media platforms.

The events have left the local community in disbelief, with people both in Lebanon and elsewhere taking to social media to express their shock and outrage that a man lost his life over what they described as a senseless and trivial dispute.

Others have renewed the call for stricter gun control measures to help prevent such acts of violence.
