Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has stressed that Morocco’s tourism industry continues to thrive and welcome visitors, undeterred by the recent earthquake that hit the Al Haouz region.
In a joint initiative with the National Confederation of Tourism, ONMT and various tourism professionals have come together to reassure the global tourism community that Morocco remains open for business and is committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all travelers.
Professionals from the National Confederation of Tourism, including hoteliers, travel agents, restaurateurs, and guides, along with the Presidents of the Regional Tourism Councils across the country, joined forces to convey a unified message in a video published on ONMT’s YouTube channel.
The video underlined that Morocco’s tourism sector is still functioning smoothly, and all professionals are dedicated to ensuring an unforgettable tourist experience for visitors.
Despite the recent earthquake that hit central Morocco, the Moroccan tourism industry continues to operate normally, with a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard of service and safety, indicated the video.
“Morocco has been struck to the core. But its people have demonstrated resilience and solidarity,” Hamid Bentahar, President of the National Tourism Confederation, said in the video.

This includes establishing continuous communication with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Confederation of Tourism, and all Moroccan professionals to oversee the tourists currently in the country and those arriving.
The ONMT also reached out to its international partners, including tour operators, airlines, and national travel associations from various source markets, to reassure them about the situation in Morocco and maintain business continuity.
