Rabat – Thousands have gathered in Rabat to protest the ongoing Israeli aggression targeting civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank and show support for Palestinians and their right in establishing an independent state.
Organized by the Moroccan Association to Support the Struggle of the Palestinian People, the protest marked the participation of civilians, MPs, politicians, and activists.
Online posts described the demonstration as the “one million people protest,” as it attracted many people from different areas –in particular those surrounding Rabat– to express support for Palestinians being targeted by Israeli aggression and relentless shelling since last week.

The protesters headed towards the Palestinian embassy in Rabat and marched through Rabat’s main street passing before the Moroccan parliament to express support for the cause.
They chanted slogans to express solidarity with Palestinians suffering from decades-long hostility and relentless shelling demolishing their homes and right to live in peace.
The slogans included “free Palestine,” and “Palestine, land of martyrs,” along with “no giving up on the Palestinian cause,” and “stop the barbaric war on Palestine and Palestinian displacement,” among others.
Many also carried Moroccan and Palestinian flags to reiterate their commitment to continue to support the Palestinian cause.
The protest marked the attendance of the leader of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohammed Nabil Benabdellah, along with other members and activists belonging to the party.
Commenting on the protest, Benabdellah said, “We are here in the protest to express support for Palestine.”

“We’re here to say to the world … stop this dirty war on Palestine. Stop this zionist aggression… Stop this barbaric war against Palestinians that is against international laws and humanity and human rights,” he explained. “It has no relation to self-defense as claimed by Israel.”
Stressing PPS’ solidarity, he said that the party will always remain supportive to the Palestinian cause and making sure that Morocco also continues supporting it.
In addition to the decades-long occupation, Palestine has recently come under renewed aggression in the form of relentless shelling – killing over 2,000 people while more than 9,000 others were injured over the past week.
The Israeli aggression has triggered many protests from across the world, including in other Arab countries, the US, France, and Switzerland.
Geneva also witnessed a mass protest on Saturday, with many people waving Palestinian flags in support.
