Rabat – Authorities in France are evacuating the Palace of Versailles due to a bomb alert.
AFP reported the news today, citing a source that said that the palace, which is outside Paris, will be closed on Tuesday.
A bomb squad was also on its way to the site, BFMTV reported.
This is the second time for the building to be evacuated in less than a week.
On October 14, the palace in addition to Paris Gare de Lyon train station, as well as the Louvre museum was evacuated due to a false bomb alert.
The evacuation came just one day after a teacher was killed during a school stabbing at Hambetta high school in the city of Arras.
Witnesses said that the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” or “God is greatest” during the attack.
France described the killing of the teacher as a “terrorist attack.”
The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Russian national Mohamed Mogouchkov of Chechen origin, who was a former student at the school. Security services said he was associated with Islamist extremism.
Following the attack, French President Emmanuel Macron called on French people to stay “united” and to not “give in to terror or let anything divide us.”
On Monday, the Gambetta High School also witnessed evacuation following a bomb alert.
