Rabat – Morocco and Mauritania have renewed commitment to continue boosting bilateral military cooperation in a wide range of areas.
According to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, the Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, Mohammed Berrid, led a high-level military delegation to Nouakchott to participate in the 4th meeting of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint Military Commission.
Berrid co-chaired the meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of Mauritania’s Armed Forces on Wednesday.
The fourth of its kind, the meeting aims to strengthen and boost military cooperation between Rabat and Nouakchott at various levels, including joint training and exercises.
During the meeting, the Moroccan military official reiterated the importance of cooperation between the two countries, highlighting its “positive track record: in the fields of security and defense, FAR said in a statement.
Berrid also emphasized the need to improve the exchange of expertise between the two countries’ armed forces and contribute to regional security and stability.
The meeting also served as an opportunity for the two parties to plan military activities for the coming year.
The press release concluded by emphasizing the importance of military cooperation between the two countries, recalling a memorandum of understanding establishing the joint military commission aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the field of defense.
