Moroccan star Mouhcine Chafi will face Russian martial artist Dmitry Menshikov in an anticipated Muay Thai contest at the ONE Fight Night 17 event on December 9.
The 26 year-old Moroccan is heading into his second bout in the ONE Championship after opening his account at the martial arts promotion with a defeat against Thai star Sinsamut Klinmee on November 4.
Nicknamed “The Assassin,” Chafi possesses an overall record of 31-6, and is a former WBC Muay Thai Middleweight European champion.
The Moroccan’s challenger is the fearsome 25-year-old Menshikov, who last defeated Thailand’s Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong via first-round knockout in September.
The Russian star, whose overall record stands at 28-2, regained his confidence after a debut loss against ONE Lightweight Muay Thai world champion Regian Eersel – a defeat that interrupted an impressive 11-fight winning streak.
The Lightweight Muay Thai clash will take place inside the famous Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand as part of the martial arts show ONE Fight Night 17, which is set to be broadcast live on BeIN Sports in the MENA region.
ONE Championship, whose shows feature bouts in Muay Thai, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and submission grappling, revealed that ONE Fight Night 17 will be an all-Muay Thai show.
The martial arts giant also announced that the show’s main event will witness a battle for the inaugural ONE Heavyweight Muay Thai championship between the ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing champion and Ukrainian star Roman Kryklia and Australia’s Alex Roberts.
