Marrakech – Canadians are marking their calendars for March 11th as they prepare to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.
With the official start of Ramadan just around the corner, preparations are underway in mosques, homes, and community centers across the country.
“Tonight, at sundown, Muslim communities in Canada and around the world will mark the beginning of Ramadan,” Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said today, wishing all Muslim communities a Ramadan Mubarak.
Islam Finder website highlights that Muslims in Ottawa are projected to observe a fast lasting approximately 13 hours this year.
This fasting period will commence with suhur starting at 6 am and conclude with iftar at 7:05 pm.
As Islam has become the second most practiced religion in Canada, Ramadan fosters a sense of unity and empathy within communities.
It is a time for Muslims to extend acts of kindness and charity to those less fortunate, reflecting the values of compassion and generosity that lie at the core of Islam.
In the spirit of inclusivity, many non-Muslim Canadians also participate in Ramadan festivities, attending iftar dinners hosted by mosques and community organizations.
These gatherings offer an opportunity for people of different faiths and backgrounds to come together, share a meal, and foster understanding and friendship.
As the countdown to March 11th begins, anticipation mounts within Muslim communities nationwide, signaling the approach of a month filled with blessings, spiritual growth, and unity.
