Rabat – More disturbing reports have emerged accusing Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) of killing unarmed Palestinian civilians. According to footage obtained by Al Jazeera, two unarmed Palestinian men were shot dead by Israeli troops near Gaza City.
The video shows the men, one of whom was waving a piece of white cloth as a sign of surrender, being mercilessly shot before their bodies were bulldozed by a bulldozer.
The incident took place near the Nabulsi Roundabout, southwest of Gaza City. The two unarmed Palestinian men were trying to return to their homes in the north of Gaza via al-Rashid Street — their only possible route —when they encountered Israeli soldiers.
The incident has sparked outrage and demands for accountability. The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has condemned the attack as “brutal and terrifying extrajudicial killings.”
PRCS spokesperson Nebal Farsakh emphasized the urgent need for the international community to hold the IOF accountable for their crimes in the besieged strip.
The recent news is by no means an isolated occurrence.
Just days ago, other videos surfaced online showing unarmed Palestinian civilians and families attempting to move from one part of Gaza to another in search of food, only to be met with merciless attacks by the IOF.
In response to the video, an IOF spokesperson told Al Jazeera that a thorough examination is required to assess the details of the incident and that the video does not provide the full context.
Hamas condemned the killings as evidence of Israeli fascism and criminality, while also calling on the International Criminal Court to hold Israel accountable for its brutal actions.
To exacerbate the situation, the incident unfolded just days after a recent UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan.
Despite international calls for peace and the urgent need to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the IOF’s merciless attacks persist.
