Rabat – In a bid to explore the burgeoning landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) in Morocco, the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Morocco and tech giant Microsoft have announced a collaborative effort to host a roundtable discussion titled “AI Morocco: Meeting the Opportunity.”
The event will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Casablanca on Tuesday, April 16, at 10 a.m. The round table will aim to delve into the current state of AI in Morocco, its potential, challenges, and far-reaching implications for both society and the economy.
According to a social media post from Rabia Al Alama, Managing Director at AmCham Morocco, the event’s objectives include highlighting the achievements and initiatives propelling Morocco’s AI ecosystem forward.
The event also seeks to “identify gaps and challenges, while analyzing the societal and economic impacts.” Another key objective is facilitating the exchange of best practices and lessons learned from global AI development and adoption.
The organizers added that the event will aim to provide recommendations and strategies for fostering responsible and inclusive AI governance within Morocco.
With a focus on fostering dialogue between public and private sector professionals, alongside AI experts and researchers, a central feature of the event will be a panel discussion featuring prominent figures from diverse spheres.
Notable participants include National Technology Officer for Africa at Microsoft, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, President of AI Movement Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and Founder of Synergeon Karim Amor.
Meanwhile, the event’s keynote speakers include Moroccan Minister Delegate of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform;Ghita Mezzour, the US Ambassador to Morocco; Puneet Talwar, and John Edokpolo; lead for Corporate, Externational and Legal Affairs at Microsoft Africa’s Regional Cluster.
