Rabat – In a letter addressed to Moroccans embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage this year, King Mohammed VI has called upon the pilgrims to be “worthy ambassadors of your country.”
The letter was delivered by Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq today ahead of the departure of the first group of Moroccan pilgrims from Rabat-Sale airport today.
In the letter, the monarch congratulated the pilgrims on the “blessed opportunity” to perform Hajj, noting that his message reflects his “constant concern to preserve the sacred values of religion.”
“We are eager to see you represent your country, the Kingdom of Morocco, as it should be during the Hajj season,” the King added, noting that this representation should embody the”sublime values of ISlam,” including tolerance, and active solidarity.
The monarch also recalled the obligation for pilgrims to strictly adhere to measures taken by Saudi authorities in ideal conditions of tranquility “so that the pilgrimage season can take place in an atmosphere of order, discipline, peace, and security.”
The monarch urged the Moroccan pilgrims to portray Morocco’s radiant image and honorably represent its values. “It is these constants and immutable values that have ensured security and stability to our country and have enabled it under our enlightened leadership to continue its resolute march towards progress and prosperity,” he said.
The King also emphasized the importance of projecting Morocco’s values and stability during the sacred pilgrimage season. He highlighted the enduring significance of these values in guiding the nation towards progress and prosperity.
Moroccan pilgrims who will perform Hajj pilgrimage in the 2024 season will pay MAD 66,865 or $6,729.
The Hajj season is expected to begin on June 14.
