Rabat – In celebration of Morocco’s upcoming 25th Throne Day commemoration, the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) are set to host the first International Military Music Festival.
Slated between July 26 to July 30, the event will feature a lineup of concerts across diverse Moroccan locations including Rabat, Sale, Temara, Tetouan, and M’diq.
According to a statement released by the General Staff of the FAR, the festival will feature performances by seven national military bands.
These bands will represent various units including the Royal Guard, Royal Gendarmerie, National Security Directorate, and Auxiliary Forces.
International military bands from Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, the United States, and Senegal are also set to participate in the festival.
The festivities will kick off on July 26 at Rabat’s Al Barid Square.
The performances on July 27 will take place simultaneously at Mahaj Riad in Rabat, Bab El Mrissa in Sale, and Harhoura Beach in Temara.
The finale is scheduled for July 30 at Tetouan’s El Mechouar Square, with performances preceding it on July 29 along M’diq’s corniche.
The Throne Day marks the formal accession of the Moroccan king to the throne with a series of official and popular celebrations.
Initially observed in 1933 to commemorate King Mohammed V’s accession in 1927, the holiday now centers around July 30, the date when King Mohammed VI ascended the throne.
The festivities typically begin with a televised royal address on July 29, where the King outlines national achievements, ongoing projects, and articulates Morocco’s future vision and foreign policy objectives.
