Rabat – The death toll in Gaza reached at least 39,324 as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue their campaign on civilians in the region.
Palestinian news agency Wafa said today that the IOF killed at least 66 Palestinians, while 241 others were injured in the last 24 hours.
Aljazeera reported today that the death toll in the last 24 hours reached 36, with 120 injured in a school used as a field hospital and a shelter in central Gaza.
IOF’s airstrikes on Khan Younis have equally resulted in many casualties. Wafa news agency reported that nine Palestinians were killed, including a child. Several others were injured amid IOF’s ongoing strikes.
“In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Israeli warplanes bombed displaced families’ tents in the Al-Mawasi area, resulting in the killing of three individuals, including a young girl. Another Palestinian was killed in a separate airstrike in central Khan Younis,” Wafa reported.
The total number of injured victims reached 90,830 individuals. The majority of the victims are women and children.
Rescuers remain unable to reach many victims and dead bodies trapped under the rubble.
The British journal The Lancet estimates the true death toll to be closer to 186,000.
On Saturday, the World Health Organization reitrated its appeal for an immediate ceasefire for Gaza.
WHO General Director Tedros Ghbreyesus wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that he “felt deeply worried about the safety of civilians and patients in Deir al-Balah, following the latest reports of airstrikes in areas where many displaced people are sheltering.”
“Such attacks also strain fragile health facilities and put them at risk of closure,” he stressed.
