Rabat – Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz has called for the “temporary displacement” of Palestinians in the northern West Bank as part of a sweeping murderous campaign launched by the Israeli Occupation Forces.
In a post on the social media platform X, Katz compared the current level of IOF aggression to Israel’s strategy in Gaza, advocating for similar measures, including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian civilians.
“We must address the terrorist threat in the West Bank just as we do in Gaza, which includes necessary measures like the temporary evacuation of civilians,” Katz stated, describing the aggression as a “war in every sense of the word.”
Katz also highlighted the role of Iran in the escalating tensions, accusing Teheran of supporting the terrorist infrastructure in the West Bank, much like its involvement in Lebanon and Gaza.
In addition to financing an anti-Israel uprising in the West Bank, Katz argued Iran has been arming Palestinian fighters by smuggling advanced weapons into the region from Jordan.
The situation in Gaza remains dire, with the United Nations reporting that nearly 88.5% of the Gaza Strip has been placed under evacuation orders since October 7.
Katz’s remarks have sparked significant international concern. South Africa has cited similar statements by Israeli officials in a case it recently brought before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing Israel of genocide and other war crimes.
Despite facing growing global scrutiny, high-ranking Israeli officials have consistently made problematic statements that critics of Israel can easily point to as clear evidence of the Israeli government’s desire to permanently expel Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.
Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter echoed Katz’s comments on Wednesday, suggesting that if necessary, civilians would be evacuated to ensure the safety of Israeli soldiers.
Meanwhile, the European Union’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, has hinted at potential sanctions against Israeli officials for what he termed as “incitement to war crimes.”
