Rabat – Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is poised to depart from Turkish giants Galatasaray and join Qatari club Al-Arabi, multiple sources have confirmed.
The growing tension between Ziyech and the club reached a peak following a recent defeat to Besiktas. Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk was notably critical of Ziyech’s performance, suggesting that the Moroccan’s tenure with the club might be ending.
Further fueling speculation about his departure, Ziyech has removed all photos of himself in Galatasaray colors from his social media accounts. While an official announcement is pending, reports suggest that a move to Al-Arabi is imminent.
Hanif Ben Berkane, a journalist for Footmercato, reported on his official X account that Ziyech is nearing a deal with the Qatari club.
“In recent hours, Qatari club Al-Arabi has taken the lead in negotiations and is eager to finalize the deal swiftly. Hakim Ziyech is moving closer to a move to Qatar…”
Footmercato also notes that Al-Arabi is very close to securing the Moroccan player, with the Qatari club working to advance the negotiations.
“According to our information, the 32-year-old forward is nearing a deal with Al-Arabi. The club, which also features Marco Verratti, is on the verge of acquiring the Moroccan player. For Ziyech to complete the move to Qatar, he will need to terminate his contract with Galatasaray, freeing up a significant salary,” stated the French outlet.
The potential transfer of Hakim Ziyech from Galatasaray to Al-Arabi could benefit all parties involved. For Galatasaray, the move would relieve the club of a substantial salary expense, potentially allowing for future signings or investments.
For Ziyech, it offers a chance to rejuvenate his career in a new league at the age of 32. Al-Arabi stands to gain from acquiring a player of Ziyech’s caliber, with his proven talent and experience likely to enhance the club’s competitive standing.
