Rabat – Israeli media and officials have recently circulated rumors that Morocco is to be involved in Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from war-torn Gaza.
Israel’s Consul General to the Pacific Southwest, Israel Bachar, recently commented on the relocation proposal while suggesting Morocco as a potential destination for Gaza’s displaced population.
Bachar made the statement during a recorded interview with CBN News on February 5, claiming that three countries will be receiving relocated Palestinians, including “Morocco, Somalia, and Puntland.”
His remarks are allegedly based on what he heard, meaning there is no official decision to include these locations in the relocation plan.
Israeli media swiftly echoed Bachar’s remark to create controversy and rumors over Morocco’s longstanding position in support of the Palestinian cause and people.
Taking to X, Bachar explicitly withdrew his statements yesterday, writing: “My remarks in regard to Morocco were not accurate.”
The Consul General’s post signals that the inclusion of Morocco in the displacement plan is not genuine, thus reflecting Morocco’s long-standing solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

The rumors came out following Donald Trump’s controversial plans to “take over,” develop, and make Gaza “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
The Israeli claims, which attempted to link Morocco to President Trump’s plans, represent a significantly misleading characterization of Morocco’s established position on the Palestinian question.
Israeli media claimed that including Morocco in the plan is likely due to the country’s need for US support over the ongoing artificial territorial dispute over its Western Sahara.
Morocco has repeatedly reiterated support for the Palestinian cause, rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland, and insisted it would not accept being included in the controversial plan.
The North African country has in recent months continued to maintain its historical support for Palestinians’ rights, advocating for a just, two-state solution.
Morocco believes that the establishment of security and stability in the region can only be fully achieved within the framework of the two-state solution that would see Gaza remain an integral part of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
