Rabat – The Egyptian Football Federation announced on Saturday that it has approved the clubs set to represent Egypt in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup during the 2026–27 season.
The football federation has decided to include Pyramids and Zamalek in the African Champions League, after meeting the criteria for qualifying for the tournament.
In addition, Al Ahly and Zed FC will represent Egypt in the African Confederation Cup during the 2026-27 football season.
This decision is part of a series of measures approved by the federation’s board of directors during its meeting, as preparations continue for the new season and the participation of Egyptian clubs in CAF’s various continental competitions.
Pyramids have become a regular presence in CAF competitions in recent years. Reaching the CAF Champions League final in 2025 marked the biggest continental achievement in the club’s history.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly are the record holders for CAF Champions League titles, having won the competition multiple times. While also representing Egypt in the FIFA Club World Cup on numerous occasions after their continental successes.
Zamalek are among Africa’s most decorated clubs, having won the CAF Champions League five times, while also lifting the CAF Confederation Cup in 2019 and 2024.
On the other hand, ZED FC have considerably less continental experience compared with Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids FC, making their qualification for the 2026–27 CAF Confederation Cup a major milestone in the club’s history and an opportunity to make their mark on the African stage.
