Rabat – Fatima Nejjar resigned and Moulay Omar Benhammed was dismissed from the Reform and Unity Movement (RUM), the advocacy part of the current ruling party in Morocco (PJD).
The board of RUM issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that it had accepted Nejjar’s request of resignation and sacked Benhammed from the movement’s Executive Council after the two RUM’s vice presidents were caught by police forces in the act of adultery on Saturday.
The story has sparked an acute outrage on social media, especially since the two Muslim preachers are known for advocating chastity and purity.
National Judicial Police Brigade forces (BNPJ) found the two preachers in the act of adultery in a car on Saturday around 7 am at Mansoria beach, near Casablanca.
