Meknes – Never Liked It Anyway is a website that was created in 2011 by 28 year-old entrepreneur Annabel Acton to help the brokenhearted sell objects they received from their exes, which still remind them of their past relationships. The objects being sold can be anything: a ring, party tickets, wedding dresses, and even boxes of chocolate.

According to wearenytech.com, Acton worked as a brand consultant in Sydney, London, and New York for six years before starting to work as an innovation consultant in 2011. She knew very little about the Internet until deciding to launch Never Liked It Anyway, the marketplace to sell all the stuff you’re left with when a relationship ends.

Annabel Acton launched Never Liked It Anyway after she broke up with her boyfriend who left her with two plane tickets and other objects that she no longer wanted to use or see. She came up with the idea for a website to get rid of them and make money from them at same time, before the idea inspired many other brokenhearted people around the US, who then put everything that remained after their split on sale.

“Starting the site was an opportunity to come in with a voice that was a bit cheeky and irreverent and kind of fun,” Acton told Huffington Post Divorce. “It just kind of reminds everyone that this does happen to everyone, because when you do break up, you kind of feel like you’re the only one in the world who’s gone through it.”

Besides allowing people to put their exes’ objects on sale, the website offers them the chance to talk about their relationships, give advice to people, and get in touch with people who are in the same situation.

“The community is really lovely. If someone is interested in buying your item, there’s usually some kind of email exchange: ‘I’m interested in buying your item, but I just want to tell you I’m so sorry — I read your story and I’ve been there,'” she said. “I was really worried that people were going to use the site for naming and shaming, but people have really gotten the intent of it.”
