Rabat — The Casablanca Stock Exchange (CSE) is embarking on a new chapter with the appointment of Brahim Benjelloun Touimi as its Chairman of the Board of Directors.

The board officially approved his appointment on October 14, marking the beginning of a two-year term that comes on the heels of Kamal Mokdad’s notable presidency.

Mokdad, who has led the CSE since June 2020, has been commended for his leadership during a pivotal period of growth and transformation.

Under his guidance, the exchange implemented a strategic roadmap that aimed to enhance its competitiveness and appeal to both local and international investors.

Although Mokdad’s tenure has concluded, he will continue to contribute to the board as a representative of the Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP), ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in governance.

Brahim Benjelloun Touimi brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a Doctorate in Money, Finance, and Banking from the prestigious University of Paris I Pantheon Sorbonne, he has held significant positions within the financial sector.

Currently serving as the Deputy CEO of BANK OF AFRICA, Touimi is also actively involved in various governance roles across several institutions.

His leadership extends to the Group’s European banking entities and numerous Moroccan companies, including RMA Insurance and O Capital Group.

Touimi’s career spans over three decades, beginning in the financial markets of France before joining BMCE Bank in 1990.

His pioneering efforts at BMCE Bank established critical subsidiaries focused on stock brokerage and asset management, furthering the development of mutual funds within the Casablanca Stock Exchange.

His extensive background positions him well to lead the exchange into its next phase, as it seeks to solidify its status as a key player in the region’s financial landscape.

As the new Chairman, Touimi will face the challenge of navigating a rapidly evolving market characterized by digital innovation and shifting investor behaviors.

In addition to his roles in banking, Touimi is a board member of the BMCE Bank Foundation, which focuses on educational initiatives and environmental preservation.

His commitment to social responsibility complements his professional achievements, further enhancing his profile as a leader who understands the intersection of finance and community welfare.
