Rabat – On Tuesday in Paris, Morocco’s Court of Auditors was appointed to head the Secretariat of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions with Jurisdictional Competence (JURISAI).
This election marked an important milestone during JURISAI’s founding General Assembly, attended by a delegation led by Zineb El Adaoui, First President of Morocco’s Court of Auditors.
As part of its new role, Morocco’s Supreme Audit Institution (ISC) will host JURISAI’s headquarters.
The Court of Auditors noted in a MAP report that this achievement mirrors recognition of its efforts to advance a jurisdictional model in public financial oversight.
Morocco, in partnership with Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts, spearheaded the JURISAI initiative, organizing the signing of the Rabat Declaration in February.
This milestone was followed by a June meeting in Casablanca, where members of the Forum of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) with jurisdictional functions convened to finalize JURISAI’s statutes.
The Casablanca gathering, a part of the Rabat Declaration’s implementation, marked a significant step in transforming the forum into an international organization affiliated with INTOSAI.
The founding General Assembly of JURISAI brought together presidents and representatives from 32 Supreme Audit Institutions across Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
Among the notable attendees were Bruno Dantas, President of Brazil’s Court of Accounts and current head of INTOSAI, and Margit Kraker, INTOSAI’s Secretary General.
JURISAI seeks to promote the jurisdictional model within the ISC community, boost its global standing, and establish specialized standards.
It also looks to bolster the capacities of its member institutions by providing a dedicated framework. During the assembly, France’s Court of Auditors was elected to the presidency, along with leaders of its permanent commissions, and a strategic plan was adopted.
