Rabat, March 21, 2012 (MAP)

The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) said on Wednesday it will spare no effort to promote good governance practices and ethical management of enterprises with a view to boosting the contribution of the private sector to the improvement of business climate.

The remark was made in Rabat by CGEM President Mohamed Hourani, who also stressed the need for promoting governance in public institutions that provide services to to citizens and to private enterprises.

Hourani, who was speaking during a conference on the launch of the Moroccan code for good governance practices in enterprises and public institutions, deemed that corporate governance continue to be a main concern for both the government and enterprises as it establishes transparency ties between stakeholders and managers.

The CGEM President welcomed the launch of the code as well as the laws governing the practices of good governance. In this regards, he shed light on some provisions of the new code, notably those relating to the setting up of special committees and their charters, by-laws and the charter of the members of the governance body as well as training for administrators.
