Rabat, March 9, 2012 (MAP)

Ties uniting Morocco and France are excellent and “we wish to further reinforce and broaden them to include new sectors,” Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani said on Friday in Rabat.

Speaking at a joint press conference with French counterpart Alain Juppé, El Otmani described “as important and successful” Juppé’s visit to Morocco and “as strategic, solid and historical” the bilateral relations.

He said that the two parties discussed issues related to Moroccans living in France and the simplification of procedures for granting visas.

“We also agreed on reinforcing regular political consultations at the level of the two ministries, and conducting the necessary preparations for the Moroccan-French joint committee scheduled this year in Rabat,” he added.

El Otmani said the talks turned on means and ways to boost cooperation between the parliamentary institutions of the two countries.

In this regard, he insisted on the need to come up with a new efficient manner of dialogue to match the excellent bilateral bonds.

He underlined the importance of the upcoming visit by French businessmen to Morocco to foster cooperation and acquaint themselves with the “new Morocco after the adoption of the new constitution.”

The Moroccan official reiterated his thanks to France for supporting Morocco’s recent reforms and its clear position on the Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Relations with the EU were also tackled during the meeting, he concluded.
