Marrakech – The 12th edition of the Voix de Femmes Festival wrapped up on August 24, 2024, in a finale that could only be described as legendary.

For three days, Tetouan was a stage for powerhouse female voices and social initiatives, turning the city into a haven of creativity, solidarity, and cultural flair.

The closing ceremony kicked off with a stirring rendition of the national anthem, followed by performances from local talents like Youssra Derdabi and a show-stopping set by Shatha Hassoun and Carole Samaha.

They wrapped up the festival with such flair, you’d think they were trying to single-handedly redefine “grand finale.”

With a lineup as diverse as your weekend plans, the festival drew a crowd of 30,000 eager fans.

The opening day on Thursday, August 22, kicked off with a heartwarming act of solidarity at the Tetouan Penitentiary, where a medical caravan tended to female inmates, followed by a touching meet-and-greet and musical entertainment.

The evening’s grand debut at the Teatro Español was nothing short of spectacular, featuring a flamenco and Andalusian music performance by Zainab Afailal and Maria Ole Flamenco that had the audience thinking they might need a flamenco class of their own.

Friday, August 23, kicked off with the “Health for All” initiative at Driss Benzekri school, where vulnerable individuals got a dose of free medical care.

The day didn’t stop there; it also featured a heartwarming donation drive at the Sidi Frej Center.

Later, the Tetouan Modern Art Center dazzled with a caftan parade, showcasing designs by Samira Haddouchi and Hajar Hamouda, all while Sanaa Marahati’s voice floated through the evening.

The Grande Scene Al Matar then hosted unforgettable performances by Hajar Fezzaka, Hind Ziadi, and Manal Benchlikha, leaving the crowd wondering if they had just experienced the most epic night of their lives.

On Saturday, August 24, the “Health for All” initiative continued its good work before the festival’s grand finale at the Grande Scène Al Matar.

“This 12th edition of the Voix de Femmes Festival was a true triumph. We didn’t just celebrate the creativity and talent of women; we also strengthened our commitment to solidarity and sustainable development,” stated Karima Benyaich, President of the Voix de Femmes Association.

The Voix de Femmes Association stands as a beacon of women’s empowerment and cultural preservation.

Through a vibrant array of socio-cultural initiatives, it highlights the role of women as keepers of the city’s rich identity, encompassing oral traditions, artisanal skills, and the art of living.

By honoring the profound contributions of Tétouan’s women throughout history, the association aims to celebrate their role in the city’s socio-cultural and economic development, paying tribute to their unwavering dedication to their community.
