Doha – Spanish media reported today the arrest of a Moroccan social media influencer with over 100,000 followers in a joint counter-terrorism operation by Spain’s Guardia Civil and Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
Spanish law enforcement apprehended the suspect in Madrid’s Zarzaquemada district of Leganés, near Avenida Rey Juan Carlos, according to converging reports.
The arrest was part of a larger operation that included another detention in Pontevedra, both linked to jihadist radicalization activities.
Investigators discovered that the suspects were using their social media profiles, which featured content about physical training, calisthenics, and self-defense, as a cover for spreading extremist messages.
The accounts reportedly embedded jihadist nashids and official ISIS multimedia material within what appeared to be regular fitness routines.

In a parallel operation, authorities arrested three additional individuals in Toledo province for suspected terrorist activities. Central Instruction Court No. 2 and the National Court Prosecutor’s Office coordinated this operation, reports indicated.
The collaborative effort between Guardia Civil and DGST identified a group of individuals in advanced stages of radicalization.
One of the arrestees had significant influence in their immediate circle, facilitating the spread of jihadist ideology.
Their closest followers, including a minor who was also arrested, were found to be amplifying these messages.
The suspects managed multiple digital platform profiles for mass distribution of extremist propaganda.
Their dangerous nature was evidenced by the substantial amount of terrorist organization multimedia content they had accumulated, with particular focus on suicide attacks in conflict zones.
