Coach Sektioui Calls Up Lineup for CHAN Tournament

Moroccan coach Tarik Sketioui has selected his 30 players, who will take part in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in February.

Rabat — Moroccan coach Tarik Sketioui has selected his 30 players, who will take part in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in February.

Sketioui’s list include football players shining in Morocco’s Botola, or the local football league.

The list includes Omar Agzdaou from Wydad Casablanca, as well as several of his teammates, including Mohammed Moufid El Mehdi El Moubarik, and Saifeddine Bouhera.

A group of football players from FUS Rabat also make up Sketioui;’s list, including Rachid Ghanimi, Yahya Benkhalouk, Reda El Allaoui, Amine Siouane, and Ayoub Mouloua.

From Touarga club, Sketioui called up Mohammed Reda Asmama, Younes El Kharraz, Illias Lekrimi,  Fouad Zahouani, Mohamed Amine Sahel, and Mohamed Dahak.

Players from Hassania Agadir include Jamal Jamakh, Ilyas Moutik, Mohamed Amine Katiba,  and Mohamed Bakhach.

Sketioui called up Yaassine Amhih, and Zaid Ben Khajou from Moghreb Tetouan, and Anas El Mahraoui and Zouhir Dib from COD Meknes.

Maghreb Fes will see its player  Soufiane Mestai also taking part in the competition, along with Ishak Zaidani and Yazid Fafa from Renaissance Zemamra, as well as Khalid Baba from Difaa El Jadida.

Other players included in the lineup include Abdelhamid Maali from Ittihad Tanger, Taufik Razkou from Jeunesse Soualem and Youssef Dalouzi from Chabab Mohammedia.

The lineup will take part in a training camp from January 12-15 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in preparation for the CHAN competition, which will run from February 1-28.

The draw for the competition will take place on January 15 in Nairobi Kenya.

CAF recently announced that the winners of this edition will receive a  $3.5 million cash prize.

Morocco is among the African teams that have lifted the CHAN trophy more than once.

The North African country won the first title in 2018, when they were  also the hosts of the competition.

In 2020, Morocco also became the first country to win back-to back CAF CHAN titles.
