Tangier Police Investigate Man Accused of Murdering His Mother, Attacking Siblings

The judicial police in Beni Makada in Tangier have opened an investigation into a tragedy, in which a 31-year old man is accused of murdering his mother.

Rabat – The judicial police in Beni Makada in Tangier have opened an investigation into a tragedy, in which a 31-year old man is accused of murdering his mother.

The investigation is aiming to determine the reasons that led the suspect to murder his mother  and attempt to kill his brother and sister.

Preliminary data shows that the suspect severely assaulted his mother at the family home, which resulted in her death. 

According to reports from security sources, he also seriously injured his sister and brother with a knife, who have both been hospitalized.

Police  took the suspect into custody.  He received initial medical treatment for the injuries he sustained, as he awaits the judicial investigation ordered by the public prosecutor to determine the motives for the crime.

Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said in its annual report that police recorded a 10% decrease in the overall crime rate last year.

Police reported 738,748 criminal cases last year, resulting in the arrest and prosecution of 723,874 individuals for different crimes.

Violent crime rates witnessed a decline in different serious offenses, with a 25% decrease in murders, assaults, and deadly injuries.
