The Court of Appeal in Casablanca decided, on Wednesday evening, to adjourn the appeal trial of Moroccan radio host Mohamed Boussfiha, also known as “Momo,” until July 10 to continue hearing the defendants’ defense.

Initially, the Criminal Court in Ain Sebaa, Casablanca, had sentenced  “Momo,” to four months in prison.

Earlier this year, police opened an investigation after an unexpected turn of events when a caller, who was speaking as an everyday radio enthusiast, suddenly shouted “A thief, a thief!”, implying that he was being robbed live on air.

Police opened an investigation, which showed that the caller had assumed a false identity and fabricated a fictitious robbery scene with the help of another person.

The court also sentenced another suspect to five months in prison while another one was convicted to three months in prison for being involved in the case.

Converging reports said today that the court’s public prosecutor charged Bousfiha and the other defendants with fabricating a false theft and broadcasting it on Hit Radio.

“It appears that Momo is the main actor in this incident that the fake theft operation was carried out in collusion with him and that this act was premeditated,” the prosecutor reportedly said.
