Many X users said the engineer was fired from the company, which banned her accounts and closed them.

Rabat — Moroccan Microsoft engineer Ibtihal Aboussad has garnered international support for her brave remarks, protesting Microsoft’s involvement in the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

On Friday, the pro-Palestinian protester interrupted AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, calling him a war profiteer.

“Stop using AI for genocide,” she said.

In a follow-up interview on whether she is fearing for her career after her statements, Aboussad stressed how the fear of contributing to the genocide in Gaza is greater for her.

Her remarks sparked celebrations and pride from the international community supporting the Palestinian cause and mourning the death of tens of thousands of Gazan civilians at the hands of Israeli Occupation Forces.

Resistance group Hamas joined the chorus of organizations, and right groups commended her for her bravery. Protesters and ordinary citizens across the world salute the employee for her stance.

“We salute Moroccan employee Ibti Abu al-Saad for her heroic stance.

“A woman of one million men,” one wrote on social media.

Another X user said he is proud of the engineer, asking who “among us would sacrifice a monthly salary of $15,000 for the sake of their religion.”

“She sided with the children and victims of Gaza and kicked her job out when it conflicted with the religious and humanitarian values she believes in,” the X user said.

Many other users posted saying Microsoft was involved in closing and banning the account of the Moroccan engineer after she exposed the company’s role in supporting the Israeli occupation.

“Stand always on the right side of history, even if it ends up to your detriment,” another X user added.

In January, reports shed light on leaked documents on how Israel integrated Microsoft’s tech support to orchestrate the genocide in Gaza.

The documents showed IOF’s heavy reliance on Microsoft technology and AI during the most intensive phase of its aggression on Gaza.

“The files offer an inside view of how Microsoft deepened its relationship with Israel’s defense establishment after 7 October 2023, supplying the military with greater computing and storage services and striking at least $10m in deals to provide thousands of hours of technical support,” the Guardian reported.

Knowledge of the ties between Microsoft and Israel is not new. According to Who Profits research center, the tech company has provided extensive services to the Israeli government and IOF through its Israeli subsidiaries.

Additionally, the center reports that Microsoft Israel is one of the tech giant’s three strategic centers worldwide.
