Casablanca –  The fourth edition of the Marrakech Film Festival will take place in the red-washed city from September 27 to October 2, connecting art lovers with cinema.

According to the event’s press release, the festival honors national and international artists and films each year.

The event will be an assembly point for film professionals and cinephiles in the charming city of Marrakech, bringing an outdoor cinema to the city of palm trees and mesmerizing red walls. Taking place in popular areas  such as the Palais Badii, the Jardin Moulay Abdeslam, and others as the press release highlights.

The iconic Cinema Renaissance in Rabat and Cinema Alcazar in Tangier recently hosted short films from various countries such as Morocco, Palestine, Greece, Poland, Egypt, Cyprus, among others.  

 The best program shown will be featured later this year at  Cinema Lutetia in Casablanca, a legendary movie theater that was established in 1950, modernized in 2019 and which has preserved its art for over 74 years.

During the Marrakech Film Festival week, the event will feature awareness visits to abandoned Marrakech theaters, in collaboration with the Save Cinemas In Morocco association.

The press release highlights that people who are fond of cinema may also attend another event that will occur in Casablanca, on Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the hall of Cinema Lutetia.

Four short films will be broadcasted from the previous selections from the Marrakech Festival. Moroccan films that will be featured include”Voilà” directed by Gabriel Navarro featuring the revelation of Ramadan 2024, and starring Marie-Batoul Prenant, as well as “The Road” directed by Munir Abbar, starring Youness Bouab, Fahd Benchamsi, and Abdellatif Chaouqi. The latter film received the Belarj Prize (Best Director Award) at the Marrakech Film Festival in 2023.  

Palestinian films featured include “A’Alam” directed by Saleh Saadi, which was selected at the prestigious Holly Short Film Festival and also was an Oscars qualifier.   

Additionally, Polish film “Victoria,” directed by Karolina Porcari, will be featured. The film was a Silver Dragon award winner at the Krakow Film Festival.

As filmophiles immerse themselves in this artistic event,event of arts; they embark on a trip of discovery through the secrets of short films in Marrakech, a city whose beauty, history, and weather have made it a perfect destination for this event.
