Rabat – As of August 4, over 2.78 million diaspora members have entered Morocco as part of Marhaba 2025, an operation facilitating the transit of travelers during the summer season.

Omar Moussa Abdallah, a personnel member in charge of projects and supervisor of the Marhaba operation at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, shared the data on Tuesday in a statement on Tangier Med Radio.

He said that the number of vehicles that entered Morocco since the launch of the Marhaba operation reached 838,360 cars from June 10 until August 4.

Diaspora’s entry to Morocco marked an increase of 10.37% compared to 2024, while vehicle transits reflected an increase of 3.74%.

The remarks came in response to rumors suggesting a sharp decline in the return of the Moroccan diaspora for the summer season. Many on social media had attributed the alleged drop to the rising cost of travel and the high cost of living in Morocco.

The foundation’s personnel said the newly shared official figures are contrary to circulating rumors, which he described as “unfounded.”

“Marhaba 02025 is witnessing significant success and is running smoothly on all fronts,” he said.

The Tangier Med Port received 555,753 individuals and 175,808 vehicles of diaspora members. The number accounts for 34.87% of total arrivals by sea and land crossings.

Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport topped air entries with 320,395 arrivals. The number represents 25% of Moroccan expatriates arriving through airports.

He also commented on the efforts and services of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, pointing out that entry points delivered a total of 45,465 social, medical, and administrative services.

The number includes 2,858 medical services, among them emergency transport for around 50 cases to hospitals as well as transport assistance for over 800 travelers, whose vehicles broke down or who were stranded.

Jaafar Ameyer, director of Tangier Med Passenger Port, celebrated the hub as the main gateway for members of the diaspora entering the country.

He said the number of passengers and vehicles arriving through the port as part of Marhaba grew by 6% and 4 %, respectively.
