Rabat – Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch said on Tuesday that the government is committed to ensuring the optimal implementation of the national solidarity project relating to the generalization of social protection.

Akhannouch made his remarks in Rabat, where he chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Steering Commission for the reform of the social protection system.

In the meeting, he said the government is firmly committed to the optimal implementation of this national project, within the framework of a clear and integrated vision and in full compliance with the deadline set by King Mohammed VI.

He also stressed that the government is furthering its efforts to lay the foundations for a more equitable and sustainable national social policy, in accordance with the Royal Will.

The meeting also reviewed the results of various programs included in the social protection project, monitoring the process of registration in the national population register and the unified social register.

In the meeting, the commission examined the progress of the registration process in the national population and the unified social registry.

The number of people registered in the national registry reached 22.5 million, while the number of families registered in the Unified Social Registry reached 5.3 million.

The commission also reported an increase in the number of beneficiaries of medical coverage schemes. The number rose from 8.6 million to 24.3 million beneficiaries of the mandatory health insurance, also known as AMO, through the National Social Security Fund, or CNSS, during the period from 2021 to the end of 2024.
