Rabat – The Parliament of the Economic Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) has issued a declaration, reaffirming support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the only solution to end the dispute over the Western Sahara.

The Malabo Declaration was issued following the ordinary session of the parliament on Wednesday in Equatorial Guinea.

The joint declaration reaffirmed support for “the just causes of the Kingdom of Morocco and the member countries of the CEMAC Parliament, particularly regarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a statement from the House of Councillors said.

The Moroccan House of Councillors celebrated the declaration, describing it as a reflection of the depth of the bonds of fraternity, friendship, and unity that link Morocco and the community’s member countries.

The council stressed that this position also reaffirms the shared will to boost parliamentary relations through the exceptional regional parliamentary platform.

Morocco has been celebrating momentum as over 120 countries support its autonomy initiative as the only framework able to end the dispute over Western Sahara.

To reflect their unwavering support, about 30 countries opened consulates in Laayoune and Dakhla.

Dakhla hosts consular representatives from 14 countries, while Laayoune has consulates from 12 countries, including Jordan, Bahrain, and the UAE.

The growing international alignment also includes countries that announced major shifts in their Western Sahara stances, like the UK and Kenya, who recently announced their decision to back the autonomy initiative.
