Rabat – Turkish Airlines announced the adoption of Samsung’s SmartThings, allowing passengers to track their luggage in real time.
The airline said in a statement today that the adoption of this new tool comes within a new partnership with Samsung.
Describing the partnership as “another milestone in its digital transformation strategy,” Turkish Airlines said the goal is to enhance passenger comfort.
Kerem Kiziltunc, chief information technologies officer at the airline, said the airline continues to lead the way in digitalization of the aviation sector.
He also expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Samsung to bring their advanced technology to passengers.”
The tool, which came into effect on December 1, seeks to enable passengers to track their luggage through the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, which is based on SmartThings Find.
The technology allows identification of lost or delayed luggage when equipped with a Galaxy SmartTag.
“Thanks to this collaboration, Turkish Airlines becomes the first airline in the world to deploy Smathings technologies for baggage tracking,” the statement said, citing the company’s commitment to a “traveler-centric digital transportation and an optimized travel experience,” the company said.
In addition, Samsung’s solutions will also enable travelers to upload a photo of their luggage in the SmarThings Find app.
Samsung Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Jaeyeon Jung, also emphasized the importance of the new solution, saying that the SmartThings Find experience is expanding through partnerships across different industries.
Jung emphasized that this solution enables users to stay connected and reassured at all times.
He also expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Turkish Airlines, saying he is “pleased with this collaboration,” which will “help make travel even easier, smoother and more comfortable for passengers.
