Marrakech – Tuesday night was an almost perfect night for Hansi Flick and his team. Barcelona, who had struggled in high-profile matches this season, had a dominant display against Atletico Madrid, defeating the Rojiblancos 3-1 and ensuring they stayed at the top of LaLiga table at the end of the matchday.

A shadow cast on the Blaugrana’s win was Dani Olmo’s second-half injury.

At the 65-minute mark, the Spanish international finished off a brilliant Barcelona team move, slotting the ball, mid-fall, into the bottom left corner of Jan Oblak’s goal.

INJURY NEWS ❗️

The first team player Dani Olmo suffered a dislocated left shoulder in the game on Tuesday against Atlético Madrid.

After tests, it has been decided to follow a conservative course of treatment.

Olmo’s reaction to the crucial goal, which put Barca in the lead two to one, was surprisingly kept. The midfielder laid immobile on the floor, visibly wincing in pain. Holding his arm, Olmo first received on-field care by the Barcelona medical team before being substituted by Ferran Torres.

On Wednesday, the Catalan club announced Olmo had dislocated his left shoulder, and will miss around a month of action.

The injury comes at an unfortunate moment for Barcelona’s #20. Olmo, who struggled to find form in the opening weeks of the 2025-2026 campaign, appeared to have finally re-found his stride for Flick’s team in recent matches.

Over the weekend, Olmo scored a brace in the Catalans 3-1 win over Alaves, and, on Tuesday, he won a penalty for Barca during the first half before scoring the goal that saw him off injured.

De Jong and Lopez re-join team training

In happier news for Hansi Flick’s side, both Frenkie de Jong and Fermin Lopez returned to team training on Wednesday.

De Jong, an important cog in Hansi Flick’s midfield, missed the Catalans’ last two matches because of family issues, and  a fever. The Dutchman is expected to feature during the Blaugrana’s weekend clash against Real Betis after completing a full training session.

Lopez sustained a calf injury in Barcelona’s return to Camp Nou on November 22, an injury which was aggravated a few days later when the 22-year-old attacking midfielder featured at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League, according to SPORT.

Lopez’s recovery has exceeded the initial two-week timetable for his return. The Andalusia-native completed part of the team training on Wednesday, and could be set for a few minutes over the weekend in Sevilla.

The 2024 Olympic gold medalist aims to regain full fitness ahead of the Blaugrana’s Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on December 9.
