Agadir – Qatari authorities have hailed Morocco’s exceptional security contribution during the 2025 Arab Cup football tournament, recognizing the effectiveness of the Moroccan security apparatus and the quality of cooperation established throughout the competition.

The recognition came during the closing ceremony of the Arab Security Cooperation Center in Doha, where Qatar’s officials expressed appreciation for the active contribution of the Moroccan contingent from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to the tournament’s success.

The Moroccan security team was particularly commended for coordination and instant information exchange regarding Moroccan supporters, ensuring a serene sporting atmosphere during the national team’s matches.

Morocco’s national football team claimed victory in the Arab Cup after defeating Jordan 3-2 in extra time, adding significance to the security cooperation achievements.

The DGSN had deployed a delegation of experienced security personnel specialized in sports security and major football event protection, who were integrated into the International Police Coordination Center (IPCC)’s operations for data exchange and supporter movement monitoring.

Qatari officials responsible for the Arab Security Cooperation Center noted the DGSN’s constant commitment to strengthening international security cooperation mechanisms and expanding partnerships in security and police domains, particularly concerning sports event security.

Yesterday, Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit held talks with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in Doha, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The meeting at the National Command Center addressed mutual interests and reviewed existing Qatar-Morocco security cooperation, exploring ways to strengthen and develop joint action further.

Laftit toured the facility and was briefed on its core functions, command-control systems, and advanced technologies for monitoring, analysis, and crisis management.

In preparation for hosting this year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Morocco has established an African Police Cooperation Center, inaugurated yesterday in Salé.

This first-of-its-kind continental facility brings together representatives from security services of the 23 qualified countries, plus mobile observer teams working with Moroccan authorities to accompany supporters in stadiums and host cities.

The center’s missions include facilitating instant operational information exchange, supporting risk assessment, coordinating preventive measures, and promoting a common security culture based on sporting values and fair play.
