Rabat – The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) have established three military field medical‑surgical hospitals in remote mountain regions to support rural populations facing harsh winter conditions. This follows directives from King Mohammed VI.

These new facilities are located in Aït Mohammed in Azilal Province, Ouirgane in Al Haouz Province, and Tounfit in Midelt Province.

According to a statement from the FAR General Command, the initiative reflects the King’s care for people living in mountainous rural areas who suffer from difficult climatic conditions and low temperatures during this period.

The Armed Forces have mobilized all necessary human and logistical resources to ensure a rapid and effective medical response to the needs of citizens in these regions.

The military hospitals are equipped to provide essential medical and surgical care and support residents who often face long distances to health services, especially when heavy snow or bad roads make travel difficult.

Morocco has been hit by intense winter weather in recent weeks. The General Directorate of Meteorology issued orange and red weather alerts for heavy rain, snow, and strong winds affecting several provinces.

Forecasters say that these weather conditions are expected to continue, with significant snowfall in mountainous regions and strong rain showers in plains and coastal areas.

Unusually heavy rain has hit several areas, including the coastal city of Safi where deadly flash floods claimed the lives of at least 37 people and injured dozens of others.

Torrential rains triggered sudden flooding that inundated streets and homes, sweeping away vehicles and causing significant damage.
