Ligue 1’s Stade Rennais are reportedly stepping up their activity in the final hours of the winter transfer window by targeting Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri, currently playing for Famalicão in Portugal.
The 20-year-old striker is a serious rising star after his breakout performances with Morocco’s U20s. He’s now firmly on the radar of a struggling Ligue 1 side that’s desperate to sharpen its attack and find a way out of the bottom of the table.
The Breton club’s interest in a potential player has gained momentum following their sale of young attacker Kader Meïté to Al-Hilal for over €30 million. This transfer has left a gap in Rennes’ forward line, and with the transfer deadline approaching, the club appears interested in the player as a potential long-term replacement.

A product of the Mohamed VI Academy, Zabiri really made a name for himself after leading Morocco to glory in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He was a total standout, netting five goals in the tournament, including a brace in the final. That kind of international form has sent his profile through the roof, putting him right at the top of the wishlist for clubs across Europe.
Once back with his club Famalicão, Zabiri hasn’t slowed down, regularly finding the back of the net in the Portuguese top flight this season. Rennes’ scouts are clearly sold on him, especially his versatility across the front line and his clinical eye for goal, great qualities that could make him a great addition to their squad.
According to transfer reports, Famalicão is holding out for a fee in the region of €15–17 million to part ways with the young forward, while negotiations with Rennes are ongoing as the Ligue 1 club works against the clock before the window closes. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Rennes has reportedly submitted a concrete offer. Other European clubs have also been linked with Zabiri, but Rennes’ interest now seems particularly serious.
If a deal goes through, Zabiri would become one of Rennes’ key winter signings.
