Rabat – Nadia Amal Bernoussi has been re-elected to the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council (CCCDH) for the period 2023-2026. The announcement came during the elections held at the 54th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) on Friday.

Morocco’s diplomatic prowess was on display as Nadia Amal Bernoussi emerged victorious in the election, representing the nation’s tireless efforts in the promotion, protection, and consolidation of human rights both at home and abroad. 

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement, underscoring the Kingdom’s credibility and its commitment to human rights in line with the royal vision.

“The confidence placed in Moroccan candidacies by UN member states to various UN bodies responsible for promoting human rights has materialized through the election of Moroccan experts to almost all human rights treaty bodies,” the statement read, highlighting Morocco’s growing influence in international human rights endeavors.

Bernoussi’s re-election stands as the culmination of a vigorous diplomatic campaign, aimed at propelling Morocco’s candidacy onto the global stage. Her unwavering dedication to the cause of human rights is not only recognized at the national level but resonates internationally.

As a member of the Venice Commission and a longstanding member of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council since 2020, Bernoussi is a prominent figure in the realm of human rights. 

Her contribution extends to her participation in the 2011 Consultative Commission for the Revision of the Constitution and her ongoing academic research, further cementing her status as an influential advocate for human rights.

The Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council, composed of 18 experts, serves as a think tank dedicated to the promotion and protection of all human rights. Its role is pivotal in shaping the global discourse on human rights issues, and Morocco’s continued presence within this body is a testament to the nation’s commitment to this vital cause.
