Casablanca – Cash Plus has rolled out a new QR code payment system designed to help small businesses across Morocco accept digital payments more easily.

The solution, introduced in January 2026, has already been adopted by more than 12,000 local merchants, including neighborhood grocery stores, cafes, small shops, and independent vendors.

The process is straightforward. Merchants generate a QR code through the Cash Plus Mobile app, and customers scan it with their phones to complete the payment. Unlike traditional card payment systems, the setup does not require a bank terminal or specialized equipment. A smartphone is enough.

For many small businesses, especially those operating in neighborhood shops, the cost of payment terminals can be a hurdle.

Cash Plus says the QR code option allows them to start accepting digital payments without having to invest in additional hardware. Transactions are processed instantly, while customers can pay directly from their phones.

Local commerce continues to play a central role in daily life across Morocco, from busy city neighborhoods to smaller towns and rural areas.

By focusing on these businesses, Cash Plus aims to expand access to digital payments while keeping the system simple enough for everyday use.

The rollout relies on the company’s existing network of more than 5,200 agencies and around two million payment account holders across the country.

Cash Plus says the service will continue expanding nationwide as it works to make financial services easier to access and bring more small businesses into the digital payment ecosystem.
