Barcelona and Atlético Madrid go head-to-head in an all-Spanish quarter-final, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs

Barcelona head into this first leg with a clear psychological edge after their 2–1 win in Madrid in La Liga just four days ago.

Hansi Flick’s side have been in excellent form and continue to build confidence at a crucial stage of the season. The Catalans are unbeaten in recent weeks and will look to make home advantage count before next week’s trip to the Spanish capital.

Atlético come into the tie under more pressure. Diego Simeone’s men will be looking to bounce back immediately after that league defeat, with the first leg offering a chance to reset the narrative and keep their European hopes firmly alive.

The history between the two clubs is one of the richest in Spanish football. Across 252 meetings in all competitions, Barcelona have the upper hand with 115 victories, compared with 80 wins for Atlético Madrid.

How & Where to Watch

The match will be broadcast on beIN Sports, Canal+, TNT Sports, Movistar+, and CBS Sports.

Barcelona Team News

Barcelona come into the match with most of their squad available. The big positive is the presence of Gavi, although his minutes are still expected to be managed carefully.

There are, however, some notable absences. Out: Andreas Christensen (knee), Raphinha (hamstring), Frenkie de Jong (hamstring), Marc Bernal (ankle).

Andreas Christensen remains sidelined with Achilles tendinopathy and is not expected back until the end of April.

In goal, Marc-André ter Stegen remains a long-term absentee after a patellar tendon rupture, with his season effectively over.

Barcelona’s expected XI (4–2–3–1): Iñaki Peña; Koundé, Cubarsí, Martínez, Balde; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Rashford; Lewandowski.

Atlético Madrid Team News

Atlético arrive with several important absences, particularly in defense and midfield.

Key injuries, absentees, doubts: Pablo Barrios, José María Giménez, Johnny Cardoso, Marc Pubill, Rodrigo Mendoza.

Atlético’s expected XI (4–4–2): Oblak; Llorente, Le Normand, Hancko, Ruggeri; G. Simeone, Koke, Baena, Lookman; Griezmann, J. Álvarez.

The hosts are expected to dominate possession, while Atlético will likely remain compact and look to strike through Griezmann and Julián Álvarez in transition.

  • Score Prediction: Barcelona 2–1 Atlético Madrid
