Rabat – Abdessamad Ezzalzouli delivered a stellar performance to lead Real Betis to a 3–2 win over Girona FC last night in La Liga, a result with significant implications in the race for European qualification.

Operating with confidence and tactical discipline, Ezzalzouli was directly involved in all three Betis goals, finishing with one goal and two assists in what was arguably his most complete performance of the season. 

His influence between the lines and in transition consistently destabilized Girona’s defensive structure, allowing Betis to recover from an early deficit and ultimately control the decisive phases of the match. His performance earned him the highest score on 365Scores and Sofascore, a rating of 8.1.

Girona made an assertive start and capitalized early, imposing their tempo and taking the lead inside the opening exchanges. However, Betis gradually adjusted, finding greater balance in possession and exploiting space in wide areas, particularly through Ezzalzouli’s play and final-third decision-making. He played a central role in the equalizer before halftime, which created the right platform for Betis to re-enter the race.

The second half tilted more in favor of Real Betis. Ezzalzouli gave the visitors the lead with a composed finish, capping a fluid attacking move with great timing and positioning. Girona responded through the other Moroccan international on the pitch last night, Azzedine Ounahi, who converted a penalty in the 68th minute to level the score at 2–2.

The decisive moment arrived in the last minutes, when Ezzalzouli once again showed his creative quality and created an opportunity to unlock Girona’s defense which eventually led to securing the 3rd and winning goal. His pace, spatial awareness, and execution made the difference in a closely contested match.

This win lifts Real Betis to 5th place with 49 points in La Ligua standings, reinforcing their position in the European qualification spots. For Girona, who are currently 11th in the standings, this is another reminder of their up-and-down form. They showed flashes of great chemistry up front, and Ounahi did his job from the penalty spot, but their underlying issues are still showing through.
