Tetouan – Google has signed a multi-billion dollar agreement with the startup Thinking Machines Lab in a bid to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence, signaling a deeper push into the fast-growing AI cloud market.

According to Alarabiya, the deal will allow the startup to rely on Google Cloud infrastructure to train and deploy advanced AI models.

The agreement includes access to high-performance systems powered by graphics processing units from Nvidia, including its latest GB300 chips, alongside integrated tools for model development and deployment.

The partnership reflects Google’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in AI cloud computing.

The company is increasingly combining services such as data storage, databases, and container management into a unified offering aimed at attracting developers working on next-generation AI systems.

The move comes amid intensifying competition.

Rivals are securing their own computing resources to keep pace.

Anthropic, for example, has recently partnered with both Broadcom and Amazon to access large-scale infrastructure, underlining the growing demand for computing power in AI development.

For Thinking Machines Lab, the agreement marks its first formal partnership with a cloud provider, although it has previously collaborated with Nvidia.

The startup was founded in February 2025 by Mira Murati, former chief technology officer of OpenAI.

It later raised $2 billion in initial funding at a valuation of $12 billion.

Despite limited public details about its operations, the company introduced its first product, “Tinker,” in October last year.

The tool focuses on automating the creation of customized AI models, a process that typically requires significant technical resources.

The core of its approach is reinforcement learning, a method widely used in advanced AI systems developed by organizations such as DeepMind and OpenAI.

However, this technique demands substantial computational capacity, helping explain the scale of investment behind the new agreement.

With access to Google’s latest infrastructure, Thinking Machines Lab is expected to accelerate its model development.

The GB300-powered systems are said to deliver up to double the performance of previous generations, reinforcing the global race to build more capable and efficient AI systems.
