Rabat – Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed talk of replacing Neymar, insisting the forward is on track to recover in time for the 2026 World Cup opener against Morocco.

Speaking to reporters, Ancelotti explained that before the squad list was announced, Santos informed the federation that Neymar was dealing with a minor issue, swelling rather than a serious injury.

The club managed his condition until May 27, when responsibility shifted to the Brazilian Football Confederation.

“We believe he will recover soon,” Ancelotti said. “He is working well, his morale is high, and we expect him to be ready. To be clear, he will stay with us until he is fit.”

The coach stressed that Neymar remains part of the 26‑man squad and will not be replaced. “We have no doubts. These are the 26 players chosen, and they are the ones who will play the World Cup,” he added.

Ancelotti acknowledged that Neymar might not be ready for the first match, but expressed confidence he would feature either against Morocco or in the second group game. “If he cannot play the opener, he will be available for the next one,” he said.

Neymar has been training under close supervision, with medical staff monitoring his progress daily. The forward’s determination to return quickly has reassured the coaching team.

Brazil’s camp has stressed stability, avoiding speculation about changes to the squad.

The Selecao will face Morocco in their opening fixture on June 13, a match already attracting global attention. With Neymar’s situation clarified, Brazil aim to focus fully on preparation rather than uncertainty.
