Newcastle United have renewed their interest in Moroccan international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, as they look to strengthen their attack during the current summer transfer window.Â
This renewed interest follows Anthony Gordon’s departure to Barcelona, as they seek to fill the gap in the attack.
According to TeamTalk, the Magpies have reopened negotiations with the 24-year-old Moroccan winger.Â
The outlet explained that Newcastle had Ezzalzouli on their radar alongside former Osasuna player Victor Muñoz. However, with the deal falling through and Muñoz ultimately joining Liverpool, the English club has decided to focus entirely on Ezzalouli, making him their top priority signing.
Newcastle’s pursuit of the Moroccan international is not recent, but rather the result of long-term monitoring. The club has sent scouts on several occasions to track the Moroccan international’s performances, and decide whether he is suitable for the Premier League style of play or not.
However, finalizing the deal won’t be easy financially, as the Moroccan star is under contract with Real Betis and his release clause is estimated at between €50 and €60 million .Â
Newcastle’s management is currently considering the most suitable financial terms to submit a formal offer that would convince the Andalusian club to release him..
While Newcastle appears to be the most determined party to complete the deal, they are not the only English club interested in the Moroccan winger. Multiple sources indicate that Aston Villa and other clubs are also keeping tabs on Ezzalzouli, which could intensify the race for the Moroccan international this summer.
