Weather

Agadir – The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts hot weather in Morocco’s southern Sahara provinces today with temperatures reaching 39°C in Aousserd. Temperatures will rise across most of the country, while some coastal areas may experience fog or localized drizzle.

The DGM expects partly cloudy skies over the southern provinces, with scattered rain in some areas. Fairly strong wind gusts will affect the region, potentially causing dust storms in certain locations.

Minimum temperatures will range from 3°C to 9°C in the Atlas Mountains, the Rif, and the eastern High Plateaus. The southern provinces will record lows of 20°C to 26°C, while the Southeast, the plains of Tadla and Rehamna, and the Souss region will see minimum temperatures between 15°C and 20°C. Elsewhere, temperatures will range from 10°C to 15°C.

Aousserd will record the highest forecast temperature at 39°C, followed by Dakhla at 37°C, Es-Semara at 36°C, and Laayoune at 35°C. Agadir and Marrakech will both reach 32°C, while Safi will record 30°C. Settat and Beni Mellal will see highs of 29°C, while Fes, Meknes, and Taounate will reach 28°C.

In the north, temperatures will reach 26°C in Oujda, Tetouan, and Kenitra, while Tangier will record 24°C. Rabat and Casablanca will experience milder conditions, with maximum temperatures of 23°C. Al Hoceima and Melilla will record highs of 21°C, while Ifrane and Midelt will reach 20°C.

The DGM also forecasts varying sea conditions along Morocco’s coastline. The Mediterranean will remain calm, while the Strait of Gibraltar will experience calm to slightly rough seas. Conditions will be rough to temporarily very rough between Mehdia and Tarfaya, while other coastal areas will see slightly rough to rough seas.

Among other cities, Bouarfa will record temperatures between 8°C and 24°C, Errachidia between 13°C and 25°C, and Ouarzazate between 14°C and 26°C. Essaouira will see temperatures ranging from 17°C to 28°C, while El Jadida will record between 14°C and 24°C.

In the southern provinces, Lagouira will reach 33°C, while minimum temperatures will stand at 22°C. Dakhla will record a minimum of 17°C, Laayoune 21°C, Es-Semara 23°C, and Aousserd 24°C.
