Meknes – Manchester United manager Michael Carrick admitted he is unsure whether he will remain in charge at the club after Sunday’s crushing setback against Bournemouth.
Pointing to the emotional strain on the dressing room, Carrick stressed that his team is grappling with a difficult spell.
Manchester United extended their winless streak to eight matches after slumping to a heavy 3–0 defeat against Bournemouth.
The domestic setback comes just days after the Red Devils suffered a 4–1 beating at the hands of Italian side Como in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking at the post-match press conference following the loss, the manager addressed the growing speculation surrounding his position on the bench.
The manager said he understood the situation, he reaffirmed his dedication to the team despite the mounting pressure and uncertain road ahead.
“Regarding my future with Manchester United, I don’t know what will happen, but I will continue to give my absolute best for the club, and that will never change. I love my job, and I just have to wait and see what happens,” Carrick said.
When asked about his emotional reaction toward the supporters at the final whistle, the manager dismissed rumors that his post-match gesture signaled an immediate departure.
“My wave to the fans wasn’t a farewell. I just have mixed emotions right now because I feel what the players are feeling. I’m going to need some time to process everything,” he added.
Despite guiding Manchester United to a third-place finish following Ruben Amorim’s departure last season, Carrick’s side has struggled to maintain that form.
The Red Devils have endured a dismal start to the current campaign, managing just two victories across 12 fixtures in all competitions.
